Each year a thematic focus will be selected, ranging from environmental remediation, sustainable energy, healthcare and climate change mitigation. Challenges will be meticulously crafted and hosted in our platform, allowing you to unleash your creativity to develop innovative solutions with SynBio.
2024 Challenge: Environmental Bioremediation 🌱
The EUSynBioS community has selected Environmental Bioremediation as the theme for our inaugural SynbioBrewery challenge. It's about using synthetic biology to restore our environment, turn waste into valuable resources, and make a difference.
Our planet faces challenges like pollution, waste accumulation, and environmental degradation. These challenges are not abstract; they have real consequences. The accumulation of waste, from municipal landfills to industrial byproducts, threatens to overwhelm our ecosystems. They affect the well-being of our world, from the health of our communities to the sustainability of our ecosystems. They call for innovative solutions, and that's where you come in.

The Cultivation Stage marks the beginning of your SynbioBrewery journey. It's the moment when the theme and challenges for the hackathon will be unveiled, sparking creativity and innovation. Here, participants can start brainstorming project ideas and preparing to take their first step into the world of synthetic biology.

Brewing stage
In the Brewing Stage, the hackathon truly comes to life as participants form teams, apply their skills, and begin turning their project ideas into reality. This stage is all about collaboration and hands-on work. Join projects, create teams, and dive into the exciting world of biohacking.

Project development and experimentation.

Extraction stage
